Hi all,
Could someone tell me the difference between a start up disk and a boot disk. I know it is probally a stupid question but I would like to know anyway. I have had trouble with my puter for the last couple of weeks until laast week when it finally crashed. I got it repaired and now its ok, but in the process I think I lost some brain cells lol!!! Tks. blackkettle. :bag: :rocker: :bouncy:  :bouncy: :rocker: |

Hi blackkettle,
Although "boot disk" and "startup disk" are terms used interchangeably, a boot disk is a disk (usually referring to a floppy disk) that contains only the basic files required to boot to a command prompt (io.sys, msdos.sys and command.com), whereas a startup disk contains not only the bootable system files but other utilities (eg., FDISK, Format, etc.). |
