os questions

i purchased a compaq at a local clearing house it has vista premium 32 bit with a nvidia graphics card ...it was very cheap...it seems to function very well ..i did some of the "tweaks" suggested on this forum .As a self-pronounced neophyte in the world of computing and a struggling senior citizen in sw florida I can 't see why the furor over this os ...are there any good reviews of this system? There was a previous os on this new computer "windows 2000" but this was upgraded before i bought it .It was sold as new...second question ...can this be restored to windows 2000 and then upgraded to windows xp? Third question from my limited resources i feel i should contribute to this worthwhile endeavor but i need an address to send a check ...i don t do paypal thank you in advance from florida the home of the unwed and nearly dead hjb

Hi tall one. I have Vista and love it. I also have XP installed on my laptop but I rarely use XP anymore.

Do you have the Windows 2000 Professional installation CD? If not, then you would have to purchase it from somewhere, do a fresh install and then purchase an upgrade to XP Professional. See here for Windows XP supported upgrade paths.

Regarding a subscription, thanks for the thought but my understanding is that the only current option to support CTH is via Paypal.

Sure. Wikipedia has an easy to follow explanation of new features and those removed (at the bottom of the page). Be sure to click on the Headers though because not all features are available in all editions (eg Backup and Restore Center to see Features and limitations). Also visit the Microsoft page here for more information and demos.
