On the XP home computer, open the printers menu from the control panel. Right click on the printer and goto properties. Click on the tab called "sharing and security". Enable printer sharing (it should be an option in this tab). Share the printer.

Also, on the xp home computer, goto start, run. Type in "cmd" press enter. Type in "ipconfig /all", press enter. Make a note of the hostname and ip address.

On the power pook, open your System Preferences and goto printers. You'll want to add a new printer. The default installation of OS 10.x has windows printing so as long as its realatively new this should be easy. In the printer type, find the windows printer option. It should bring up a box for network path where you can browse for the host name and printer. If that doesn't work you can use tcp/ip printing with the address "ip address\printer name".

First you need to add print service for Unix on the XP box.

Go to Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs
Select Add/Remove Windows Components
Check 'Other File and Print Services' Then Next
(You may need your XP dosk for this)

After that is installed go to 'Control Panel'->Admin Tools->Services
Find TCP/IP Print Server and change it to start automatically

The last step on the XP box is to share the printer
Go to Start->printer and faxes
Open the printer's properties and enable sharing

Then on the Mac side
Launch the Print Center.
Click the "Add Printer" button.
Change "Appletalk" to "IP Printing"
Enter the WinXP Computer's IP address in the Address box.
Uncheck the default queue radio button.
Enter the name of the printer share you defined on the XP machine.
Select your printer model (Install Gimp-Print if you don't see a ppd for your printer, restart print center and try again).

Edit: AA beat me to the post... If your not using OSX, then these are steps to setup tcpip printing that AA refered to at the end of his post.
