Is this drive partitioned at all?
Also is it FAT32? I'm thinking that maybe Drive Space may be an old version and doesn't understand the way the drive is set up? |

This was a 2nd hand computer so I'm not sure about the Partition. I do know that where it shows [C] propreties correctly.-------The label box is empty with a blinking bar.-----Type:Local Disk------------------------------File system: Fat32. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Drive Space myself, is it a particularly big problem that it's giving you rubbish info?

Thanks Steven. For the Info. Every thing works and runs fine. I've just been curious about that since got the computer a few months back. PS. all other items in ----------[System Tools] works fine also.

no problem, someone might have an answer, but if it's not messing anything up it's probably easiest to ignore it

The reason for that is. When you click on Drive Space it is only telling you that the Drive is not compressed. It isn't actually telling you how much room you have. It is only a Picture and nothing more, not an actual account as to how much space you have.
I have a 13gig HD on this HP. When I click on Drivespace it says. THis drive is not compressed, then tells it has 2gig free space and 0 used. Hope this helps clear it up... BTW, I seriously doubt that with a 12gig HD that anyone would use Drivespace to Compress the drive.... It would take forever to do it. Drivespace is a disk compression utitily. Used to free up alot of space on your Hard drive, Floppies etc. The only problem is that it takes atleast twice as long to recover any Data you put on this drive. It is compressed, so in order to view it, it has to be uncompressed before it can be viewed. IMHO, it is not a good way to free up disk space... [ 28 May 2001: Message edited by: Dodge ] |
