Hey all,
I just got winxp installed with dx9.0a, and other recent drivers. And I always crash in games. Sometimes it just crashes to desktop, sometimes it gives me an error, sometimes it just reboots (rarest). I've tried everything and I am at a standstill. I have even reinstalled win xp. My current comp setup is in my sig. Any suggestions would be great. I am about to go buy windows 2000 or windows 98se just to play games. edit: i have service pack 1 installed also |

First, do you have the latest video drivers?
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp Also, be sure to have the latest patches for any of your games you are trying to play. |

yes, i got detonator 44.03 drivers and latest patches for the game.
Few of the games that crash on me are Counter-strike, Raven Shield, and Dark age of camelot : shrouded isles. I sound dumb but would the nForce drivers have any reason for conflicting with my video drivers? Kind of weird to have Nvidia make something non-video like. |

You could try Right clicking Gamerun.exe and select properties then click compatability and select one of other platforms recomended on the side of the box and run.

Roll your video drivers back to version 40.72..Those are the latest drivers that are WHQL the drivers you are using are only WHQL for the geforce fx series of cards.
see if that works. |

I had problems crashing in all my games too. It drove me mad for half a year before I FINALLY figured out a fix.
I was using two sticks of pc2700 512mb ddr ram. I popped into the bios and checked the speed. It was at By SPD or whatever, so I moved it to be set at 166. The games now ran alot longer, but after a bit I'd still crash. I went back and made my last adjustment of setting it to 133. Sure my ram isn't at the highest it can be (i'll be moving it back once I get my ram heatsinks in the mail and trying it out), but I can run games just fine. |

Games Crashing
Changing resolution from 32 bit to 16 bit solved my problems.
This is specifically recommended in Art Of Combat Readme files relating to some video cards. My card Radeon 7000 64 MB DDR Ram. Check your readme files which are often within the game installation folder or within the CD files. |
