2x 8600gt ≥ 8800gt?

Hi, I just have a quick question about these video cards.

Which would be better considering:
  • cost
  • quality

Two 8600gt's: ($99.99 ea.)
This

One 8800gt: ($269.99)
This

I'm stumped and I'm not sure which would be better, or are just about equal is quality? (meaning 'would I notice a difference paying the $69.99 extra')

Basically, will it play crysis, orange box, and any other games that are in need for a 'screaming' graphics card on high?

Thanks for the help in advance!

two 8800GTs cant even play crysis on very high settings (according to oracle anyways)
orange box is old and a single 8600GT would be able to play it at max settings at 1680x1050 easily, i know cause my 6800GT plays it at almost high at that reso with no lag, and the 8600GT is faster than my 6800GT

Edit
according to toms hardware guide (www.tomshardware.com)
two 8600GTs are half as good as one 8800GT

8800GT (Overclocked slightly) performance

Dual 8600GT performance

edit: alright, well I guess I'll go for an 8800. I don't really want to upgrade anything for a while, so I'm doing a lot of research.

the only reason you should go with a SLI or Crossfire setup is if you buy a video card and then a little bit done the road, you can get another of the same card for cheaper. it offers a way to upgrade rather than replace.

definately go for the 8800GT. that way, you will be able to get another one in a year or two if you need some extra performance.
