Hi mifa58. Download the run xp_fix_search_error.vbs from here (this file fixes various search errors even if you do not see a yellow triangle). Reboot afterwards and let us know if this helped.

Ok, try reinstalling Search Companion. Go to Start > Run and type:

%systemroot%\inf

and then click OK. Look for the Srchasst.inf file. When you find it, righclick on it and choose Install. This reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses.

NB: You may need your Windows XP Installation CD

Hi mifa, sorry I have been offline for the past week. A SP1 CD will not work. You need to use a full installation CD. Do you have one?

If not, do you have a C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 directory? If so, try the command again and if the CD is requested, try pointing to that directory.
