Windows Vista Features and Services Harvest User Data for Microsoft

Are you using Windows Vista? Then you might as well know that the licensed operating system installed on your machine is harvesting a healthy volume of information for Microsoft. In this context, a program such as the Windows Genuine Advantage is the last of your concerns. In fact, in excess of 20 Windows Vista features and services are hard at work collecting and transmitting your personal data to the Redmond company.

Microsoft makes no secret about the fact that Windows Vista is gathering information. End users have little to say, and no real choice in the matter. The company does provide both a Windows Vista Privacy Statement and references within the End User License Agreement for the operating system. Combined, the resources paint the big picture over the extent of Microsoft's end user data harvest via Vista.

whether or not its fair, its the price of using windows. You agree for them to do it when you click on I accept ...the first time you turn on a new computer or when you first install the software. If you dont want them to collect, then dont use windows. There are other choices.

Something to consider - You give out more information just by shopping and using a discount card, check, debit, credit card at your local chain store whether its grocery or other. If you used any of those cards, they can go into your database and tell you everything you have purchased. That data is also being mined by the insurance companies, marketing companies etc.

In addition there are other onlines services collecting all kinds of information about you, from google to yahoo to homeland security.

So whats the difference?

One has to finally work out according to the dominance power.. which MS has made the end user inhere tend.
