XP standby mode
New user here, starting having probs with Windows XP not going into standby mode. It does all the right things except it doesn't power down the hard drives or switch off the system; touching the mouse or keyboard brings the system back to life.
Has been working fine until the last couple of weeks when this started happening........ got all the Windows patches installed and up to date. Kinda annoying, some help would be appreciated..... cheers, Brian Last edited by weescotsman; November 11th, 2008 at 09:52 PM. Reason: Incorrect title |

Is everything setup right under power options in the control panel? It could be caused by a hanging driver or program. Have you added anything lately?

Not added anything in the way of hardware at all recently, everything has been running nice and smooth. Gonna try a windows repair see if that helps. The sound card has an asterisk beside it in the Control Panel - System - Hardware tab, but that's always been there despite my system being fine as far as playing CD's and listening to music. Will also download the latest Creative Labs drivers for it just as a precaution.
