Is this a good gaming card?

My friend Greg Buch was planning on getting card like this. I know i have been told to get the 8800GT which is very nice but at the same time very expensive. I do hope to get the 8800GT. Would this be good card for my friend?

Again, Clock speed means nothing. You can't compare by just clock speed, 8800 and HD 2600 are completely different, Memory, Pixel pipelines, GPU etc.

All the GPU's are different, There are no GPU comparisons (like the actual Processor of the graphics card), because they all have different abilities, Like Shader models, vertex shaders, AA and AF abilities.

Out of the above it is, I think. Just look up benchmarks, when you find a card you think is goo. There is basically someone who would have benchmarked it. Then you can compare cards like that.

8800's gpu clock speed is 600MHz
2600's memory clock speed is 1.4GHz, nothing is mentioned about the gpu clock speed
but i know the 8800's memory clock speed is 1.8GHz

Benchmarking graphics cards is when they test cards in games, at different details and resolutions, gathering average FPS. Then they pretty much give reviews about the cards at different settings and what not.

They also sometimes compare it with the program 3DMark05/06 or 07 if there is one now (Wouldn't have a clue.. Don't check anymore), 3DMark06 is a benchmarking program which plays very high detail graphics which pushes your graphics cards to full load and will give you a score at the end of over PC performance. It's quite a good tool, Widely used to compare graphics cards with the score or PC systems as a whole.

What Chingy posted is like the best graphics comparison I have seen. You can select which graphics cards you want to compare, and choose the "benchmark" (which game / detail etc).
