remote access issue
A friend of mine clicked something and thought she was connecting to HP tech.. they asked to get access to her computer and she granted them access... she later found it was not HP... and now everytime she gets on her computer they do things on her computer so she turns off the computer right away ... Is there a way we can get him off the computer.. something we should look for in the computer ( a browser extension, an app installed by him, a virus, etc..) is there something we can run to clean the computer out... I can try to help her if I can and know what to look for and what to do..
I don't know yet what kind of computer she has or what Windows she is using.. she is not that knowledgeable about computers... We have been communicating on a neighborhood app.... Thanks much for any ideas you can give .. |

thanks... I will relay what you tell me to my friend... She had someone at Norton check her computer I'm not sure if they solved her problem or not... I was going to try and help her... thank you for whatever you can tell me to look for... she isn't computer literate... she uses it, but not sure how to do certain things...

Norton couldn't find what was controlling the computer... they did some cleanup and hoping that helped... so now it'a wait and see.. they told her if it happened again to take a picture of the screen as to what is happening..
thanks.... If she comes up with something, I'll ask if I need to... After the scammer had control of the computer it was causing issues with her emal and she would see screens changing when she turned on the computer and would quickly get off the computer... |

Sounds like Norton considers it job done. Give it a week to prove it.

Good evening. So far she is... I think tomorrow she is having a new hard drive put in and hopefully all will be okay..
