Well as long as it is IDE, Then it is most likely to work, As they support most bus speeds. That HDD you have chosen will work.

Just make sure when you install it that you have XP SP2 so that it detects the full size, or else you will only get 127GB out of it.

Hi kamla,

First thing I would check is the BIOS version that is on your old computer....will it recognize the entire 160GB of the HDD or is it limited to, say, 100GB. You may need to update the BIOS if an update is available.

Next, ensure that the operating system that you will be installing will recognize the entire size of the drive. For example, to recognize more than 137G:
Windows XP Home Service Pack 1 (SP1) or higher
Windows XP Professional SP1 or higher
Windows 2000 Professional SP3 or higher
Windows 2000 Server SP3 or higher

How do i check my BIOS to make sure it will it recognize the entire 160GB of the HDD

also when you buy an OEM HHD, do u all the screws to mount it or is better to buy a packaged product..

Western Digital has a better reputation with longer lasting HDD's. Seagate usually has a longer 5 year warranty though.

OEM usually doesn't come with the screws, And also a retail package will come with software to migrate everything from your old HDD to your new one.

And your BIOS will support it.. Limits were on HDD's ages ago but only to 40GB or something. You already have a 80GB so there should be no limit.
