With Windows 11 is Microsoft becoming as restrictive as Apple?

Hi Everyone

There are always pros and cons with virtually anything but with windows 11 one only hears the 'good'! Very difficult to find the 'cons'.
“Secure Boot” sounds great “important security feature designed to prevent malicious software from loading when your PC starts up”
But who decides what is “malicious software”? Is Microsoft becoming like Apple where “malicious software” is basically anything that is not approved by Apple and paying a tithe to Apple.
I have heard (really do not know if it's true) that under the excuse of security a 'Microsoft' computer will not be able to dual boot with say a Linux distro.
Free apps written by 'unknown' people will be blocked eg Hiren's Boot CD/USB or any free app not approved. American companies really do not like anything that is free. Could it be that this “Secure Boot” just locks you into a Microsoft only environment?
Again not sure if its true.... Your new windows 11 computer is not only locked by software but also by hardware additions like the TPM chip implanted on your motherboard?
If you are forced to buy a new Microsoft compliant PC.... Does your old computer not loose a lot of it's value?
Love to know everyone's opinion...
Lionel

Thanks Lionel, sounds like a good reason to stick with Linux and give these money hungry types the boot.

Flash and Java run just fine on Win 11. You can download Shockwave to Win 11, but who still uses Shockwave?? Isn't that like watching movies on floppy disks, or listening to music on 8-tracks?
