Please run the fix it below.
http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9668866

Now please update your wireless driver.
http://www.pcpitstop.com/drivers/dow...k~Adapter.html
Go to the site above you will need the window 7 64 bit version of your wireless driver.

Now open ccleaner hit the options button then the settings button then put a tick next to run ccleaner When the computer starts.
Then under the advanced tab put a tick next to close program after cleaning.
Also under the advanced tab un-tick only delete files in the temp folder older than 24 hrs.

Defrag your machine with this tool below.
http://www.auslogics.com/en/download...frag-setup.exe
Only use the defrag tool it may offer other tools ignore them only use the defrag.
Open the program and select defrag and optimize it may take some time allow it to finish.

Watch out for the toolbar and the request to set ask.com as your homepage when installing this software make sure to un-tick these options when installing.

Run an online scan with Eset on your machine make sure that remove found threats is ticked you will need to disable avast when you do this.
http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

I do not need to see the eset log this is just part of maintaining your machine and you should run this scan about every three months or so.

Now after you scan with eset and have removed the found threats lets clear your restore points.

To do this simply turn system restore off then reboot and then turn system restore back on and reboot again.
http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/w...tore-on-or-off

Now open elevated command prompt and copy and paste the contents of the code box and hit enter.

Code:
sfc /scannow
Allow the above command to finish then reboot.

After the reboot then re-open the command prompt and then copy the below into it and hit enter then reply Y when asked to schedule on the next reboot.
Reboot your machine this will run a check disk on your machine it may take some time to complete allow it to finish.

Code:
chkdsk /r

Download the All in one Repair Tool Run the program vista/win 7 users please right click and run as admin. Go to step 4 and create a backup of your registry this tool involves changing registry keys and it is just a good idea to bak it up.Now go to the start repairs tab and run it with the following boxes checked. When running this tool disable your antivirus.

Reset Registry Permissions
Reset File Permissions
Register System Files
Repair WMI
Repair Internet Explorer
Repair MDAV/MS Jet
Remove Policies Set By Infections
Repair Winsock & Dns Cache
Repair Proxy Settings

I'll need to put this thread on hold at this point. For one thing, Mastersplinter, more and more you are pretending to provide malware removal in your offered procedures, which as per these guidelines, is not allowed. If folks need malware removal, they need to post in the appropriate forum.

However, I have noticed you always have users repair the Hosts file, when there is nothing wrong with it, and then sort of dump a hodge-podge of scans and fix tools, with no apparent planned procedure being followed. Having users uninstall their antivirus program because you do not prefer it, and install what you prefer, has zero helpful purpose. gwilym, whatever you you do, do not run some "fixit" tool and do all this:

Reset Registry Permissions
Reset File Permissions
Register System Files
Repair WMI
Repair Internet Explorer
Repair MDAV/MS Jet
Remove Policies Set By Infections
Repair Winsock & Dns Cache
Repair Proxy Settings

Mastersplinter, if you would, explain to gwilym why those changes need to be made, and what they do. "Repair WMI". Is it broken? "Repair Winsock & Dns Cache". That'll damage Bonjour, which folks use for iTunes. Why does gwilym need to do that?

second thing the hosts file is blank and it should read 127 local host.
So yes there is a vaild reason to fix the hosts files.

As far as the malware scans what do you mean pretend?
I never asked for any log from eset it is just good practice to scan with another malware scanner other than the one that resides on the machine.

I never asked the user to run any specialized tools such as combo fix the eset scan is free and widely available on the net is not the purpose of these types of forums to educate people on how to maintain there machines??

As far as the fixes from the program as you will notice there are a few dns issues here with the dns timing out and bonjour can be easily reinstalled if it were to be broken by this program which it will not be.

I volunteer my time to help here I gurantee you that my methods work and if you wish to cry about who gets to suggest what scan then I can easily walk away from this forum just say I do not wish you to post here any more mastersplinter and you wish will be granted.

Lastly AVG is terrible also spybot is garbage and if you wish to suggest them or not warn people when you see them installed on their machines that is up to you.

@ Gwilym

I am a helper on 5 other forums, and a member of staff on 3 of them. I gurantee you that no harm will come to your machine,by following my methods they are not hodge-podge as said by Jintan.

However the choice is your this is your machine,as you have already said things are running much better so I must be doing something correctly.

Glad to know that your issue is resolved.
Anything else that you can think of?

Can you now regularly watch youtube videos without issue?

One last minitool box log would be nice to see just untick list installed program please.

Also I would like to point out that running a scan with eset once in a while will not hurt.
I do not want to see the logs just wanted you to know that to keep your machine running well.
Also if you set up ccleaner the way I asked it will remove the temp files from your machine upon each boot.
Good Idea to defrag your machine at least 3 times a year as well.

Happy surfing.

Here,s the mini tool log. Everything is working well now.
I do defrag from time to time. I was glad to find Eset scan I do use online scans now and again I used Housecall but not sure which is the best.

Can you untick ipv6
http://www.informationweek.com/byte/...ws-7/231400022
Also change your dns to open dns there seems to be the issue of the dns timing out.
http://www.opendns.com/

That is the only issue that i am seeing I know you gave google dns a shot but might be worth seeing if open dns will help your machine.

gwilym, running CCleaner often removes bogged down temp files, and that is often experienced as improvement. It's why "reg cleaners" seem to provide improvement - they clean out temp storage (and do little else of value).

Mastersplinter, what do the results of that last log show you, or actually, why did gwilym have to run it?

And you have people run Autoruns, but I note you never have a comment on the results, or suggest a change. So why have them run it?

I kinda think you actually have no clue what those scan are for, or how to interpret the results. And we really cannot have folks who think they know something, instead provide bad advice here.

This is the MS Fixit you had gwilym run earlier. To fix what, I might ask. And how would gwilym know which option to select? All them of them, and just do a shotgun fix, even though nothing is particularly wrong?

You had this person reset the Restore Points, in the middle of your supposed repairs, thus removing a needed backup option.

So a few things you will have to attend to:

1 - If you suggest any malware/adware removal scans, I assume you think the system has infection. Those requests will instead need to be referred to the CTH malware Removal Forum, where those trained and approved for that will provide assistance.

2 - If you suggest bad ideas like that Fixit, or especially all those incorrect changes with that hodge-podge All in one Repair Tool, I'll delete the post. 2nd time, temp ban.

Either know what you are doing, and provide specific repairs for specific problems, or take time to learn before you present yourself as someone who knows, and can help.

Pard, you haven't got a clue what you're doing, and it likely has cost folks to learn that the hard way.
