Lightbulb Seagate Barracuda

My eMachines computer arrived stock with a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 Sata-300 ATA 250GB 3.5 inch 8Mb. I want to add a second hard-drive but a gentlemen relayed his story of how he bought an additional hard-drive but his motherboard wouldn't accept it? I've replaced and added hard-drives in the past and never had a problem I was aware of anyway. Does anyone know of a new Seagate drive that will work well with the hard drive I have presently cause as we all know once you buy it's yours and I can't afford to take chances, thanks guys and gals!!

Since it is a SATA drive, you can add another SATA (if there is another SATA connector) or add a IDE if the motherboard has a IDE connector, which most emachines do.

The secret is getting into BIOS (SETUP) to make sure it is booting from the SATA drive, will be under SATA settings. The first boot device being SATA (and if you install a IDE) it should see it as a 2nd drive.

Which model emachine is it?
