Cannot connect to Internet Explorer due to 1706 error

Hello,

I normally do not use Internet Explorer but my son got on and
he could not connect because it says: Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product SFR. The windows installer cannot continue.

Is this difficult to fix?

I have MSN. If this cannot be fixed, do I even need Internet Explorer?

Thank you

This is installation error, so I don't know what would it have to do with running IE.
When exactly does that error happen? When double clicking on IE icon?

...and no, IE can't be uninstalled.

Maybe you have corrupted some files.try an older version (here). Internet Explorer runs slower than Firefox and with multiple errors.

Yes, It then says SFR - The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click ok to try again or enter an alternate path containing the installation package SFR.MSI. Use source C:/documents and settings/all users/application data Kodak/easy share setup/sysfiles/sfr1/ I can't cancel. I have to ctrl alt delete to get out. I don't have Kodak Easy Share ??

Will it start from Start>All programs?
Do you have Service Pack 3 installed?

It does the same thing when I start it from All Programs.

I did not have Service Pack 3 so I installed it. I went to IE and it pops up that SFR is trying to install.

See the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, then download (a link to the download is on that page) and run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to see if that will solve the problem.

Cleaned up SFR - Now I have "about:blank"
