need help upgrading laptop specs

ok firstly, i know lots about computers but not the actual computer itself lol.

My laptop has been runing slow, and is terribly noisy.

it is an HP probook 4510s - http://h10010.www1.h...52-3934828.html

sorry i dont know much about the specs on mine but that website lists all available. if anyone can tell me how to check my specs that would be great

all i know is that i got
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T6570
and an ati radean premium graphics card.
windows 7 32bit
i think it has 3 gig ram

does anyone know if i can upgrade to 8gb ram? and if that would make a difference.

the graphics are great so i dont need to upgrade them, but upgrading what else, would make a huge difference?

i would rather spend lots of money on my laptop upgrading it than buying a new one thanks.

i have a budget of about £500 or around $800.

thankyou so much

How old is the laptop? If you have around £500 to spend and the machine is getting on for two years old, it would make more sense to put the money into a new machine.

The commercial life of a laptop is reckoned to be two years. If it is less than this you should be able to have the noise repaired under the warranty.

it is about 7 months old.

however, i used to have photoshop cs4, sony vegas, after effects and youtube open at one time, meaning my cpu was around 65%
i have also had some viruses on my laptop which raised the cpu further sumtimes. i have wiped my laptop clean 4 times before, to remove viruses etc. however once i downloaded my software back, it sounds like hoover again

about 2 months i have been heavily packed with homework meaning i cant edit videos and pictures anymore. but anytime i go to the computer it is stil very noisy.

i think i have ruined the fan aswel though

Take it back, this is a warranty job. You could ask them if it is capable of more RAM, and if so have it added while they are fixing the noise.

I think that with 32 bit Windows 7 the most your computer will recognize would be 4GB of RAM, but you have to take into account the memory on your video card, and subtract that from the 4GB.
