Linux dual boot (Again :p)
A very nice man gave me Linux Cd's, so now I have SuSe 6.4 and Corel Standard. I've decided on SuSe because it has a lot more features then Corel. I intend to run 98se and SuSe. My main question is which should I install first? I will not be able to start install for about 5 days. (a nerd freind reformated my 60GB HDD as NFTS so I can't use it till I reformat it.)

Note: these are PERFECTLY legal as he has not used one of them, and he is not using the other at all. and I have all documentation with them.

If you plan to install all 3...
Install 98SE first, then install Corel, then install Suse. When you install Corel, there should be an option that lets you install the bootloader to the root partition, instead of the MBR, choose this option. Then when you install Suse, it should setup grub for you, so you won't have to do any manual configurations later. |

I'm just intending to install SuSe, along with 98se.

fyi, linux is free. Even if the cds have been used before, you still can install it. Also suse is already up to 10.2 version. Depending upon your computer, some stuff may not be supported.

I used SuSE for a couple of years but switching to Ubuntu about a year ago. IMO, Ubuntu is, by far, the better Linux distro. It's stable and very easy to add or remove programs from. Comes with about everything you'll need, but, like stated above, depends on the computer you're going to run it on.

I installed my 98se disk, but there isn't a screen where I choose partitioning? then I tried SuSe and it said I had 98se, then it did weird things.

Ah, yeah the early Windows installer lacked partitioning tools (as well as other things). Setup your partitions to your liking using the Suse install disk (or a live partitioning tool like gparted-live), and then install 98SE/ / Suse.
Even though you have to boot the Suse install disk to partition your drive, you should still install 98 before installing Suse. (ie: boot suse, partition; boot and install 98; boot and install suse) |
