My computer shuts down after maybe 3-4 hours of use, at first I had windows xp and was getting the blue screen after several hours then decided to install windows 7 and still have the same problem just no longer receive the blue screen. Does anyone now why?

Shutdowns like the ones you describe are often the result of heat buildup.

Have you cleaned all the dust out the inside of the case recently as well as out of all air vents?

Just to add here. Make sure you check your Power supply where the cable plugs into the back and make sure there isn't alot of dust etc built up inside of it.
