Unhappy Black screen with blinking cursor .. stuck ! !
Had a terrific electrical rain storm came thru this AM ... hurried to shut down the pc, it was trying to install updates, I shut it down anyway .... now .....

When I turn it on and let it go, the farthest it goes is a black screen with a blinking cursor.

Have tried F8 and boot into safe mode .... black screen w/cursor
Have tried booting with XP disc to do repair .... black screen w/cursor
Checked boot sequence, it was ok
It seems all the things I have tried takes me back to the black screen ... can't seem to get any further.

I really hope someone out there has got more ideas for me to try. I will really appreciate it.
