Uploading files from Camera to laptop

For years I've been uploading photos from my Lumix Camera via USB cable with no problems until today.

When I inserted the USB cable into the port, I received the usual ping sound but I could not find the folder. I also tried inserting aUSB flash drive with the same results.

I am using Windows 10 operating system which I installed over a year ago.

Can you help?

Right click on Start then to Disk Management (Have USB Stick inserted)

In the Disk Management, check if your external drive has a drive letter. If it has a drive letter, it will appear next to the drive name.

If there is no drive letter, you will have to perform the next two steps to add the same.

Right-click on the external drive that you want to see in the File Explorer, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.

Click the Add button. Clicking Add button will open Add Drive Letter or Path dialog.

Windows 10 automatically assigns a drive letter to the selected drive but you can choose your own drive letter (one of the available letters) if you want by clicking the down arrow next to the drive letter.

If the USB stick is empty they is an option in File Explorer that might be stopping it from showing:

Open Folder Options. This can be done by clicking File and then clicking Options/Change Folder and Search Options.

Switch to the View tab.

In the Advanced settings section, uncheck Hide empty drives option.

Hit Apply.
