two operating systems

Some genius (ok it was me) installed Win XP with Win 98 instead of replacing it. How can I get Win 98 off the computer? I can't redo Win XP our disk was scratched beyond use.

Hi shannac

If you installed XP after 98 you have a problem.
When you installed XP it wrote the boot files to the root
directory of Win98.
If you remove 98, you remove the boot files for XP.

I tried this about a year ago a couple of different ways
with no success without having to do a
repair install of XP afterwards. That requires the XP CD.

Never mind I got tired of dealing with it and just reformatted with the recovery disk for the system. I'll just put up with WIn98 until I can get another XP disk.
