intermittent dsl connection
have just installed broadband. ISP is AOL connection via external dsl modem. Problem - in about 1 out of 5 boot ups the link fails - green link light does not come on, there is no error message on boot up and cannot connect to net - problem normally resolved by restart. Very frustrating - help appreciated (OS is XP - have done the obvious uninstalling/reinstalling modem drivers and aol software) Please help

Something you might try is powering down the modem and turning it back on. Once it's up you may need to go into a DOS window (start>run>cmd) and type
ipconfig/renew to get your internet access back without having to reboot.
