I've seen there are programs out there to do this, but I thought why bother downloading, when a website can do it for ya's.

How do they get put there in the first place? Or do people put them there. simply so people will have to remove them if they want to use the joke?

Hi Jayb

They come from the e-mail client. Outlook express etc. can be configured to add > marks to text when forwarding or replying to e-mails. This is done to reduce confusion, particularly with messages that are forwarded many times.

Jokes fall into this category.

Smart joke forwarders copy and paste the joke into new e-mails. Even smarter ones post them on this board. BF
