Sound Issue
Hi,
I have this sound issue where, basically, I get no sound. In my device manager I have no hardware problems. When I uninstall the relevant audio controller (Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS (WDM)) and reboot the pc will detect the relevant hardware, install the software for it automatically and *voila* I have sound again. Excellent! Until I reboot my pc. Then I lose it sound and have to go through the process again. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Here's something worth mentioning. When I start the computer and get to the xp logon screen, if I don't dawdle on that page and log in quickly, I hear the first couple of bars of the windows start up sound before it'll cut out and I lose sound. |

Is the sound on board or a standalone card? If its a standalone card try reseating the card.

If using a sound card, make sure the onboard sound is disabled.
Windows may be setting it as the default sound device. You can check it at start/control panel/sound and audio devices under the audio tab. |

Thanks for the suggestions.
I tried the onboard sound suggestion but it isn't listed on the default device list so that's not the issue. I'll try reseating the sound card and get back to you guys. |

To piggyback of Leroys1000, Check the onboard sound before getting into windows.
When your PC first starts before anything windows happens, you'll see "Press <DEL> to enter setup". <DEL> could be anythng from F2, F10, or w/e depending on your BIOS. In there, if onboard sound is available, disabling it will prevent windows from even having to decide. |
