Need help:Dell os install has no sound incl.

I fresh installed this computer with windows xp pro using a dell/microsoft cd disk. But my problem is I have no sound. I beleive the sound driver and/or other basic drivers are not included in the disk or need upgrade. I have downloaded sound drivers but they will not work for me. Please help me. Thanks, arkansasjune

Welcome to CTH

Are you sure you got the right drivers?
If you have the Dell tag number you can get them at this Dell website.

If no tag number, you can enter the model number etc.

Maybe you should give detail information about this pc. Sound card make/model, any other useful information that you'll be willing to give.

Howdy:

Are you saying you managed to use a Dell Restore cd to load Windows on a system that wasn't a Dell?

Dang, I wish that wasn't the way you went.

The Dell cd you used is OEM and tied strictly to the Dell system it was purchased with. It cannot legally be installed on any other system as it is bound to the Dell whether the Dell is still in use or not.

Unfortunately, we cannot assist with illegal downloads no matter how unintentional.

Closed.
