Disable auto arrange in folders, not the desktop.
Hi to all, well I finally got me a new computer with Windows 11 home, it is a job getting everything like I want it .
I am about 60% to having it like my old computer. I have run into a brick wall on aligning to grid in the open folders though, the capability to 'free arrange' in Windows was removed. Once I open a folder though it is a different story, I try to move the folders in an order that is good for me but they will not move. So my problem and question is can anyone show me how to disable auto arrange for items in a folder? Thanks for any responses. |

I do not know for sure but I would number the files from 1 upwards. The machine should then arrange them in numerical order..

Thanks for your reply , I have so many folders with so much in them that would be out of the question. From what I have read on other sites ,Microsoft or Windows 11 would revert them back anyway.

I don't use Windows 11, but I found this. It sounds like you can't do what you want to do.

Thanks for bringing this to my notice, I've heard of other deficiencies in Win11 and this has tipped me in the direction of ordering my new laptop with Win10 rather than Win11. Thank you.

Maybe adding another system to hedge your bets would be a good plan...
