Need Help With Upgrading CPU

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and add a 1 gb stick of RAM. I was wondering something cheap and will just do the job for running Vista a bit better. Im not sure if my mobo is compatible with the new duo core cpus or not. Any help or suggestions would greatly help.

I was looking at this CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 Processor BX80571E5200 - 2.50GHz, 2MB Cache, 800MHz FSB, Wolfdale, Dual Core, Retail, Socket 775, Processor with Fan $74.99

was wondering if soemthing like that would be compatible. Thanks for any help.

Logitech USB Wheel Mouse
IBM SK-8811 Keyboard PS2

The fastest CPU you motherboard can handle is a P4-3.40 GHz (800 FSB, L2 cache:1MB, rev.G1), it does not support dual core only pentium 4 and celeron CPU's. As for RAM your computer can hold up to 4GB of PC3200 so you can definitely put more ram in unless by chance you have 4 sticks of 256mb then you would have to remove some of that ram to put bigger sticks in.

Ok if your running vista buy a multi core system, it's what vista is designed to run on any thing else won't be very good. people running vista on XP computers are the reason why it has a bad rep, that and it's user interface is different from xp and most people don't want to take the time when they are trying to set up a computer to learn a new interface, I know I don't.

You can't really find those CPU's around at a retail store anymore, you might if your really lucky but for the most part they are discontinued. Your best bet to find one is ebay but the older CPU's can be as much as or more then the newer CPU's out, you would notice a small performance boost from your current CPU but really I would say it's not worth the money invested, save your money and buy a new computer when you can.
