Rogue laptop knocks users off the network

This message is a little long since I want to explain a lot, but I think you'll find this problem intriguing.

Harry has a laptop running XP Home, SP2.

When he plugs into our network, one or two users loose their network connection (no internet, email, remote printing or server access).

Ipconfig shows that their machines are now "joined" to the mshome network and the default gateway is now Harry (192.168.0.32) instead of the router (192.168.0.1).

DHCP is provided from the router, which is a Linksys WRTG54G, with the latest firmware.

ipconfig /release and renew sometimes fixes the problem, a reboot generally fixes it although sometimes multiple reboots are required.

Yesterday was an extreme case when at least 8 users lost connectivity.

Harry has no problems when this happens and I don't see anything strange in his event logs.

Win2k as well as XP Pro machines seem to be affected, including power users, admins.....it seems to be random.

All our machines have the latest updates, patches, anti-virus, anti-spyware etc.

This all started quite recently but Harry has been using the same laptop for years.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Are you using domains or a workgroup at work?
Do you have UPnP enabled?

A domain with (15) machines (all Win2000, SP4) and a workgroup with (2) WinXP Home SP2 desktops and (4) WinXP Pro SP2 laptops.

UPnP is disabled in the router.
Thanks,

Do you have SSDP enabled on the PCs? I wonder if the rogue laptop is advertising itself as a Router. Does the rouge laptop have UPnP service running?
