I assume you realize you need a new motherboard to do that. Actually a celeron is a P4 with 1/2 the cache but it really doesn't stop there. If you are looking at a desktop for average use such as email and word processing, then they are fine. If you are looking at a laptop then forgetaboutit!

yes well. if i have to get a new motherboard.. might as well get a new computer... At Dell they got the b110's with intel celeron D's for $299.. Would u recoomend dell?

Heres the specs of the comp im talkin about..(http://configure.us.dell.com/dellsto...c=DB110A&s=dhs) maybe u can look over it and see if there all good.

Not any more and never the $299 either. 2000 and 3000 series are crap mainly because all onboard audio and video...if one dies you can add pci cards but limited # of slots and pci cards not the best to use for video.
40000 and 8000 series great hardware but they give you software on pc only, no cd's and for that reason alone, DO NOT BUY DELL, or anyone that does not give you software cd's. If hard drive dies, you have an empty worthless box!
