Is my fan on or not?

i am using speedfan. Does not show if fan is on, no fan stats.
is there any software that can tell me if my fan is operating or on at all?

is this a floor fan or ceiling fan? since you provided absolutely no information as to the device you are trying to check there is no way to help. the best you can do is to watch the fan and see if it is spinning.

this is in re to my laptop

i have a toshiba l655 laptop, runs hot at 80 c then shuts down..whenever I run e.g., mdsched.exe (windows memory diagnostic), and also av software.
Is there any software that report if my fan is running at all?
speedfan does not show my fan rpm or status.

I've used Argus Monitor (https://www.argusmonitor.com/en/index.php). It's not freeware, but you can use it for 30 or 60 days free, something like that.

lizmerrill,

When your Laptop shuts down.
Does the DC IN indicator on the front of the laptop flashing Amber?
Or....
When your Laptop shuts down.
The DC IN indicator is flashing White?

If it is doing either one...
You have a serious problem, and your going to need to bring it to a shop.
Unless you have the tools, and want to try repair it yourself.

SpeedFan, unfortunately doesn't cover all computers.
Startup TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor, and check the status of your Laptop.
{Go to Appendix F-2 in the manual for instructions.}
