Ready to smash my laptop

Not sure if this is the right forum but received fantastic help in the past and hopefully ive got the right place. If not, can you please direct me.

My laptop has been running lika a Lada Riva for weeks now. Always freezing. Taking 5 to 10 minutes at a time to do something. Adobe Acrobat will not work even after removing and re-installing, all Windows updates keep failing, i cant open the defragmenter, it wont allow me to run a scan with Lavasoft Adaware and basically i was 6 foot away from throwing out a hotel window moments ago due to the snail pace of the laptop.

So can anyone help me get it running faster.

Im not sure if this is appropriate but i was asked for a HJT log the last time so i thought i would put that up as a starter in the hope i am being ahead of the game.

Uninstall both AVG7 and SpywareBot. Reboot and let me know if this made any difference.

Thanks for the reply AnnMarie. When i go through program uninstall, it doesnt show me AVG7 or Spybot.

I have to go in to my c:Program Files and then use delete function.

However, when i do this for both, it simply tells me i dont have access to the folders to delete them despite me showing as an administrator.

Please define the purpose of this file. It looks similar to a virus I once had.

Many malware files have names very similar to legitimate files. They are named that way on purpose to try and hide them. That's one of the reasons that we ask that only qualified helpers post help in this forum. Another reason is we dont have time to respond to every false alarm and define the function of legitimate files. Wsqmcons.exe is part of Vista's Customer Experience Improvement Program.

I need to see more comprehensive logs to be able to determine if your operating system is infected. Before you provide them, you need to know that I have made a personal decision not to help anyone who has peer to peer software installed on their computers (and this includes Bit Torrent software) so if you want my help, please uninstall any such programs now and reboot.

When you have done this, download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) from here and save it to your desktop.

Doubleclick on RSIT.exe to run it. Your computer will be scanned and once the scan has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both (log.txt will be maximized and info.txt will be minimized) in this topic. You can also find the logs in the C:\rsit folder. The logs will be reasonably large so you may have to divide them into sections and make several posts to post them.

Please do not run any programs other than those that I suggest or install any new software while I am helping you.

There is no evidence of any malware in your logs so I am transferring your topic to the Vista Forum.

When i go through program uninstall, it doesnt show me AVG7 or Spybot.
SpywareBot appears to have been uninstalled but I can see AVG in your uninstall list. See below. Have another look.

AVG 7.5-->C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\setup.exe /UNINSTALL
Also uninstall Spybot. Do this first and reboot before you uninstall AVG or you might have problems. I can already see orphaned registry entries that Spybot is probably responsible for.

While most likely not the direct source, I believe this will affect performance. In order to run Vista I'd suggest you upgrade to at least 768MB of RAM in order to run your system and programs fluently.

Also, my apoligies for posting improperly while this topic was in the Cyber Safety forum. I had not yet before read this rule but it is now noted.

Turn UAC off and see if you can uninstall Spybot and AVG now. To do this, go to Start Search and type msconfig. Msconfig.exe will appear at the top of the menu. Rightclick on it and choose "Run as Administrator. Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find "Disable UAC" Select it and click on the Launch button. A CMD window will open. After the command has run, you can close the window. Click ok and close msconfig. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

(Note that you can re-enable UAC by running msconfig again, selecting the "Enable UAC" line and then clicking on the Launch button > OK and reboot.)
