Hi,

Right i have done that, it worked first time, rebooted and nothing has changed.

I was looking at the User Account Control, at the bottom of the Firewall, i have always had it switched off, since buying this PC as it annoys the life out of me! So i switched it on to see what would happen, i rebooted and i got the same error message as mentioned in a few posts above:

EULA LAuncher.exe

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process ID: = 0x7e4(2020)
Thread ID: = 0x7e8(2024)
Ok To Terminate
Cancel to debug

Clicked on Cancel for debug and got another message:

JIT Debugger is not available - attempt to launch caused error: 0x2(2)

Cordbg.exe!a 0x7e4

Click to retry to have the process wait while manually attaching debug or cancel.

And the message went, User Control Account blocked Macrovision but that was it really, no change to anything else.

So i have switched it off again.

The above error is related to a third party startup installed by Packard Bell (toolbar_eula_launcher, it's the Google eula). We can easily fix this but we have more pressing issues at the moment and I'm running out of idea's.

Sharon is this a standalone unit or is it connected to a domain?

Hi

I too are thinking there isn't much else that can be done, i don't know what has happened and have no idea why it will not work but yes it is a standalone unit, while you have been helping i have also looked around for any clues or ideas on the net but there doesn't seem to be anyway of solving this.

I don't know what to do, i feel that something is wrong with my PC and is probably going to develop into to something worse!

If there is anything else we can try i will do. I totally understand if you have run out of ideas.

Not quite but almost.

Open an elevated command prompt again and type the below command:

net winsock reset

Close the command prompt and reboot. Any change?

If not, open and elevated command prompt again and copy and paste the below command.

sc qc mpssvc > c:\look.txt & start notepad c:\look.txt

Notepad will open. Copy and paste the contents in this thread.

Hi AnnMarie

Here is the notepad contents as the first command didn't work:

[SC] QueryServiceConfig SUCCESS

SERVICE_NAME: mpssvc
TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
START_TYPE : 2 AUTO_START
ERROR_CONTROL : 1 NORMAL
BINARY_PATH_NAME : C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe -k LocalServiceNoNetwork
LOAD_ORDER_GROUP : NetworkProvider
TAG : 0
DISPLAY_NAME : Windows Firewall
DEPENDENCIES : mpsdrv
: bfe
SERVICE_START_NAME : NT Authority\LocalService

Can i just add, that my start up is getting slower and slower, when it reaches the Microsoft Screen with the green bar downloading, do you know where i mean? it is staying on that screen longer and longer every day.

The firewall settings look ok so I do think your best option is to reinstall Vista. There are now several issues and we really are not getting anywhere. Dont forget to back up your contacts and emails if you want to keep them. See here for more help.

Well if you used CD's rather than a DVD, there would be quite a few. I dont have a Packard Bell though so I really cant be sure however if you didnt get any error messages when you did this, they should be fine.

Dont forget to reinstall all Windows Updates when you have finished.

Yes that should do the trick. Do you have a users manual? There should be information in the manual that will assist you with this.

Hi

So, i have done it.

In Packard Bell PC's there is a program called Smart Restore, in here you can uninstall/install original hardware and software, control which Windows programs run and Recover your PC either with a Recovery Disc or by going back to Factory Settings.

I used the Recovery which gave two options to either a Full or Partial Recovery, i used Partial which keeps Users settings and saves some files but reinstall's Vista.

It takes sometime but its done, i couldn't find music or pictures after but i had used Windows Back Up and Restore before hand.

Everything is now working fine now.

Thanks AnnMarie for all your help.

Sharon
