FDISK Problem

Hey im trying to partion my harddrive using FDISK

But when i start up in safe mode with command prompt

when typing "FDISK"
it sais fdisk is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file :S

And i cant download Norton Partion Magic Trial Since my internet is capped :S wasted all my dl usage .

And i am running windows vista home premium on a laptop
Specs:
CPU: Duo t5550
Os: VistaPrem
HD: 250Gb
Memory: 2GB

Fdisk is not a command in xp/vista. It is a command in win/95/98. You can use a win/98 bootdisk to run this command and you can create partitions. (You cannot delete any ntfs partition however)

I'm not sure if you can use fdisk to create a partition when windows already exist though. It may screw up the Vista install. (I've never tested this though)

I would advise you to wait till you can download or go and buy partition magik.

The thing is , In win vista there is the disk managment tool which i will be albe to shrink and create partions as i have seen on the net . But im not to sure if i make a partion using the shrink tool will i be able to install windows xp on it

I'm sorry, I thought you had said it was messed up. (I just didn't read your first post right)

Anyways, yes. you can create the partition and then install a second os on it. It will assign it a drive letter. So you'll be just fine with it.

What do you think are the system requirments when
dual booting xp and vista.

and how much space do you think i should make the new partion max is 65GB

Just to add to this post.

For dual booting with XP/Vista, I would have atleast 10gb for the xp and 20 for vista. The most you can give for each one is the best though.
