Code 38 Cannot access USBs
I keep having difficulties in accessing USBs. I am getting "Code 38, Driver cannot be loaded as a previous instance of the driver is in memory". I have re booted, uninstalled the driver, updated driver, done a full power off, updated the chipset drivers etc.. I have went back to an old restore point but this only works for a day or so.
I have an HP 15-d051sa with Windows 8.1. The USBs work on a different pc I have ran Malwarebytes and Norton Security - nothing wrong. I seem to have tried all that is recommended on the various sites where this problem is reported but without success. Any ideas? |

I seem to have tried everything and anything.
I got help from Microsoft on line who allegedly updated drivers and that worked for a few days. I went back to a restore point and that worked for a few days. I deleted the power option button fast start and again that worked for a few days. I have now noticed that the fast start gets re instated somehow without any input from me. So when I cannot access the USBs I check the power options and delete the fast start and that gets me USB access. It might be a WIndows update problem - any thoughts? |

Have you turned off Fast Start in Control Panel | Power Options?
