System Files unrepairable

I have refreshed several times now and run SFC /scannow to monitor when things go wonky... bottom line things are wonky again with the system files.

I'm concerned my whole Windows 8 system is going to break down again.


I am hoping that Windows 10 will eliminate this persistent issue.. but that's a small hope and I need to work before then.


Please advise.

Then try the DISM command.

Ran as administrator, type (or copy/paste):

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

Type Enter and let it work (15/20 minutes)

After that the same thing with :

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Then reboot and run sfc /scannow again. What's the result ?

I did both DISM commands then restarted and ran sfc /scannow.
Here is the response I got:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included...

The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot.

WOOT!!! This is great news!
I will reboot and run sfc /scannow again to check and see that everything is sorted out.

Looks like a success... now I would like to learn everything I just did with DISM. Not sure I would know exactly why or when to use DISM again in the future.

It's difficult to explain in three or four words.

Look at this article :

For a simple user, the best is to know that it is a good tool to use if SFC is not able in a first time to repair corrupted files.

But it's not always able. We see these last times some Windows update files which "seem" corrupting files as KB3022345.

Glad to see that the problem is solved.

Thank you.. I will look into it. Though with Windows 10 coming around, I may have a whole new set of problems to learn.

btw: I have a new issue with my startup files and chkdsk failures. Please have a look at that one if you have a chance.

Attempted to chkdsk, it failed.

Attempted to repair startup files... also failed.
