P2P applications

Hi guys & gals,

I understand that currently kazaa & iMesh are the popular P2P applications. Other than these two, what else is good?? any recommendations?

I'm sure that this will not be a popular or desired response.....

First, read through this thread...
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...threadid=19320

and then let me add that MY feelings on this are still the same. A review of the CTH Terms of Use is a starting point for discussion of P2P software here on the forums.

*on a personal level, I approach such things with the latin phrase "caveat emptor" in mind. Of course that means, "buyer beware"....but since you're not really buying anything in P2P setups...shouldn't you be even more aware?!?!*

I dabbled with DC (direct connect) a year or so ago, when I first got ADSL. There is also DC++ and probably another one by now. I must say that you could get almost anything, but I decided the risks far outweighed the benefits, unless you know who you are sharing with.

Hi strangerdoom - both KaZaA and iMesh are riddled with spyware and have the potential to cause problems for you. Type KaZaA into our search facility and read a few of the topics that are displayed.

There are spyware free p2p apps to choose from. WinMX, Soulseek, Gnucleus, Shareaza and E-Mule to name a few.

With IMesh4 you can remove all files except cd_clint.dll

Use SpyBot to search your PC. When it has finished the search all entries should be selected.
Look down for cydor and deselect the cd_clint.dll entry.

You can remove all other traces of "spyware", adware, cookies etc.

btw, if you do remove the dll then IMesh will cease to function
