Blue Screen of Death (log included)

Hello Cybertechhelp staff,

I've gotten the blue screen of death twice within the last 3 days on my computer. The first time it sent me to a webpage saying I believe there was a driver error. Unfortunately I didn't save this page. It just happened again a few minutes ago and I didn't receive any message this time.

Last weekend I had finally gotten to the Hewlett Packard website to do the driver updates for my laptop computer. After performing a health scan it said there might be a problem with the PCI Driver (sp?) so I downloaded all the driver updates recommended. There is one that I downloaded but when I go back to visit the update page it is still listed like I haven't then when I click on it, it asked me if I want to overwrite the file. Not sure if that has to do with anything.

I'm not sure what to do so this doesn't happen again. I'm not sure if its virus related so I posted this here.

Here is my hijack log just in case:

I had noticed my computer was saying my virutal memory was low just before the blue screen came on. And I usually run my anti-spyware and virus software once a week and have had no serious issues in a long time that I'm aware of. Thank you very much in advance.

Scott

Edit- I had just tried going to my control panel to take a look at my programs and both times I got to the control panel the blue screen came up again and my computer restarted and if I recall correctly I might have been running a scan of one of my spyware programs the first time the blue screen had come up.

Howdy ScottyArms,

I'm surprised with SpywareGuard, Spyware Doctor, Norton and then looks like ZA firewall anything gets in or out of that system intact. Assuming you do not have both the Norton and Zone Alarm firewalls installed at the same time, which would be not good, SpywareGuard can be a very intrusive activity blocker, as well as Spyware Doctor. And not sure how well these might interact when they overlap Norton's protective functions. But no infection showing here. Might want to post a request in the CTH Hardware forum for advice on those driver issues, but be sure to rethink what software to both keep installed and keep activated there.

Thanks Tom for the reply,

As far as I know the only firewall I have running on my computer is zone alarm. And I had recently added spyware doctor a few weeks ago cause I noticed it was available for free download on google updater. Maybe its interacting in a negative way with my anti-virus, I' dont know.

*Edit* - Just went to control panel to see what would happen and of course the blue screen came up again. After it rebooted it sent me this http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/R...0-2442c933afb9
saying the problem is caused by anti-virus software. It says check for updates and see if there's more then one running at once.

So I guess you're right and something is interacting negatively, should I get rid of spyware doctor and see what happens? And should I still post this in the other forum?

*Edit #2* You were right, I removed Spyware Doctor and another scan that came with it and now I can go to control panel without a problem. My computer is also starting a lot faster without it.

Looks like I'm good to go now, thanks again for taking your time to reply and help Tom, take care.

Scott

Not that Spyware Doctor is not a good software, but not all softwares work well together in different situations. Good you got that resolved.
