Unhappy laptop to pc problem (file access problem)

The power button on my laptop broke and I cannot switch on my computer but i need some stuff off the hard disc.

I purchased the ide adaptor and have hooked it up to my desktop pc successfully and I can access most files. However the files I need are in the account that is the administrators account which i cannot access. It says

e:\document and settings\kim is not accessible
Access is denied

Is there anyway I can enter the password and get to my files?

thanks

kim

hmm... maybe the files are only password protected on windows, try accessing them using a live cd os, like knoppix linux or Mandreke move (free to download (bout 700mb).
i had some password protected files, and i run both linux and windows on my system, i could acess the files easy from linux.
Im new to linux, but it might be worth giving it a try.
