Computer turns of by itself when playing games

When I bought Team fortress 2 my computer starded to turn of by itself. Ever since my computer starded doing that, all games that I play does the same. I downloaded SpeedFan to see my computer status. I found out that acts normal with normal tempartures and good GPU but if I start playing a game my computer over heats and the GPU is using 90%-100% of its capability. How do I stop it?

Hi and welcome. You may have noticed lots of people have read your topic and nobody has replied. The most obvious reason is you have given us very little information.
What sort of specs does the PC have?
Most importantly, what sort of video card.
How long have you had it?
What Windows version, XP, Vista?
Did other 3D games cause any similar heat issues prior to installing TF2?

Lots of 7600GS cards came with passive cooling only (no fan, just a huge heatsink).
If yours is like that, then it will overheat when put under stress (3D gaming).

1st step is run the game with the side of the case removed, allowing maximum air onto the graphics card. You could even use a small household/personal fan to blow cool air directly into the case over the GPU.

Depending on the card, it may be possible to replace the heatsink with an aftermarket sink/fan cooler.

You can also buy PCI slot cooler that will take up the slot immediately beside the graphics card for US$5-$20: Newegg.

Also try dropping all the in-game graphic settings to their lowest levels and play the game again. If it doesn't crash, tweak the settings up one by one, playing the game each time, until it crashes again. You've then found the highest level of settings for this game on your computer.

Sorry if this sounds an 'agricultural' way of doing it, but I'm an old school gamer!
