Awww, I'm just going to drive myself crazy!
After all that help on the Serv-U/FTP combo, (Comments and Suggestions Forum), I had that working perfectly. But no, I have to go off looking for a freebie, hehe! Anyway, I set up one, Sambar, with instructions which were great that I had in a magazine. I could swear I did everything right but apparently not, because Dave, my tester, could never get in. So now I try one he tried himself, Cerberus FTP Server, it was a breeze to set up, practically nothing to it, and still no go. Part of the message in the log is: Shutting down local interface at - (My IP). It says the server closes the connection. This is what was happening with the other one, too. Why?? Could it be that I have my firewall to "block most" - or does that have nothing to do with anything. I'm running Windows 2K.

Are you using a router?
Are you disabling your software firewall before you try it?

Hi, enat. No, I'm not behind a router. I was having these problems with and without my firewall on, it seems. Since my last post, I've set up yet another server and am waiting on Dave to let me know if he can get in, LOL! I'll let everyone know! If not, I'm going back to Serv-U!

The odd thing is, Harrie can get into mine, but I cannot get into her FTP server!!

And I can always get into mine using Smart FTP! I should have never messed with the set-up I had, darn!

Harrie, I know you and yer hubby (poor chap) both have computers, does he have a FTP program that he could try?
