I'm using Win7 64bit I need a good free antivirus, that will scan and fix things. Is that possible?

If not what do your recommend to buy? I've had Trend & Nortons previously.
My computer shows I have AVG but I don't know what version or how to update it.

Is there a scan that will tell me if I have malware or virus?

I am not computer savy....but I get by. So please go slow with me.
