I really hate seeing perfectly good equipment get thrown in to the Recycling Bin.
I agree but that is just a fact of life everyone must accept.

Perfectly good black & white TVs were replaced with color. Perfectly good color CRT TVs and monitors were replaced with LCD TVs and Monitors. 4:3 monitors by 16:9 and 16:10 widescreen.

Then there's 8-Tracks, cassettes, reel-to-reel, dial telephones, countless wireless phones, cell phones, dot-matrix printers, countless hard drives going back to my first 5MB (yes, 5MB harddrive) on my old C64.

Retiring and replacing outdated, superseded, obsolete "legacy" hardware before it dies is just one of the costs of progress.
