New video card didn't work now I can't install drivers for my old card...

Hello all, I rushed to the store yesterday to purchase the latest installment of my beloved Unreal Tournament series. Not to my surprise the video card I was running was inadequate to run the game beyond Doomesque graphics performance. No problem, I drove back to Fry's bought the latest and greatest and headed home. Well the new video card didn't work. My monitor didn't even register that a computer was hooked up. So I figured I would just take this one back and get something else, while in the meantime put my old card back in and reinstall the drivers that I had uninstalled in preperation for my new card. Well not only does my new card not work but now I can't install my old drivers. Windows is giving me an error message which reads:

Setup was unable to complete installation. Try to setup you display adapter with a standard VGA driver before attempting installation.

I've tried everything I can think of. If you solve this you are a god.
