Murray is spot on..got the same problem for almost 2 years now..is not frequent but it does occur
I found a quicker way..now the driver is place on a folder..in my case c :\ nvidia
boot into safe mode go to the folder ,do a fresh installation,then restart and back to normal..less than a minute
