Unhappy Rundll32 error

Using Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I seem to have acquired something nasty on my system that has changed my taskbar and menus to Windows Classic. When I go to Personalize and try to change appearance etc I get an error saying Rundll32 has stopped working. I've seen from Google that I can add the line drivers=mmsystem.dll to the system registry to fix this but I do not know where exactly to put this. I am also unable to perform a system restore. Also I'm getting loads of Flash pop ups lately. Please someone help, I've never had so many problems!
