Yes I used a cd-r. I could boot from a floppy but problem is..my laptop which is only a year old doesnt have a floppy so i dont know how i would get the information on there.

Trying to fix Compaq 1200 with 98SE..need major help!!

oK..So I recieved a Compaq Presario 1200 (super old) Laptop and am trying to get it to work again. Here are my issues:

* Have good ol black screen of death

*can't boot using cd/dvd because...
