Turns out that the guy I bought it from had...

Turns out that the guy I bought it from had recently replaced the OS Linux with Windows XP

The computer did not come with XP from Acer. IE no COA:sarcastic

To answer that on I would upgrade the Power supply anyway since it is the most common failure on those computers and 9 times out of ten it takes the motherboard with it as well.
