Odd that it should work ok until windows loads, ie it shows your desktop. I'd guess it was a driver problem myself.

8 beeps is usually the AGP/PCI adapter not seated correctly - Problem with wriggling around in the case is stuff gets knocked about.

Check your card is seated correctly and check your ram modules...

btw Older RAM tends to be CL2.5 and will not run at CL2, your BIOS will likely have a setting for this - set both to the lower CL2 rate.

If the mobo BIOS has handed control to the AGP BIOS, then you should be getting a beep code to show the error on passback to mobo BIOS.

Enable the BIOS setting that checks your RAM out - forget...
