Did you back up your registry before making the changes? You obviously need to revert back. Run repair for XP and see if there is an option for fixing the boot.

Ok I finally worked around this. I used a friends XP cd and it worked. I think something was wrong with my cd. Time to contact microsoft for a new copy.

Stick in your windows xp disk and have it boot to the cd. Then once it comes up choose the repair option and it should fix any errors pertaining to config, etc.
